About

The Susan Morrissey Foundation was launched by Susan's family and friends  in 2021, to honor a beloved teacher. Each year since, we have awarded a cash scholarship prize to a student selected by our Board of Directors. Students may apply during the spring of senior year and are encouraged to showcase their writings skills. We aim to continue this annual award and look forward to supporting students and teachers in new ways as we grow and expand our efforts.

About Susan

Susan was a graduate of Upland Country Day School, The Tatnall School, Georgetown University, and San Francisco State University where she received a Master’s Degree in Education. She taught English for a year in the former Czechoslovakia, and later at Skyline High School in Oakland, CA. After returning to the Delaware Valley, Susan began teaching Language Arts at Academy Park High School in Sharon Hill, PA. spending 13 years there before she was tragically killed in 2019. Her case remains unsolved.

Susan was a gifted teacher–respected by her peers, loved by her students. She was a master of the English language and a voracious reader. Ever the bookworm, she combined that with a love of the outdoors.
